Lifesaving response to earthquakes in Türkiye and the Syrian Arab Republic

All at Aser Ventures are deeply saddened by the tragedy which has befallen the people of Turkey and Syria. We are collaborating with the World Health Organization to raise funds for their critical mission, and please donate where you can.

WHO is deploying emergency medical teams to treat injured people, support health workers and maintain essential health services throughout rescue operations and beyond.

Aftershocks, freezing conditions, the destruction of roads and power supplies are increasing the risks to people in the aftermath of the disaster.

Urgent funding is needed to dispatch hospital supplies, keep emergency ambulances running and provide staffing to care for people in traumatic circumstances.

WHO has a long-term presence in both Türkiye and the Syrian Arab Republic which enabled it to respond immediately. This presence and established relationships allow WHO to play a unique role as a long-trusted partner in responding to emergencies.

The immediate health needs include surgical expertise to treat traumatic injuries, as well as psychosocial services for those who need it. To support local health systems, WHO is dispatching mobile health teams and additional staff to areas where hospitals and health centers have been destroyed.

WHO has been able to mobilize emergency medical teams which are teams of health professionals (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, paramedics, etc.) that are providing direct clinical care.

WHO will be training health workers to ensure that the healthcare system can care for as many vulnerable communities as possible.

WHO's role in coordinating the health aspects of emergencies is unique. Across the world, WHO works with partners in countries to both prepare for and respond to emergencies. WHO has a global presence and a deep understanding of how tor espond at local levels and to the needs of communities.
