Live streaming on social media remains a top priority for ELEVEN as part of the strategy to reach new and diverse audiences.
In late December, the Ligue 1 fixture between league leaders Paris Saint-Germain and Caen was streamed LIVE on the ELEVEN SPORTS Facebook page in Belgium – the first time that a match from one of the major European football leagues was broadcast LIVE on Facebook in the country.
In January, ELEVEN SPORTS also delivered a Bundesliga first by live streaming the match between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Bayern Munich on Facebook in Poland. The match achieved more than half a million Facebook views.
The two football games followed other examples of LIVE streaming on ELEVEN’s social media platforms in recent months, including Ivy League football and Singaporean soccer on Twitter in the U.S. and Singapore respectively, and ACB Liga Endesa Basketball on Facebook across five markets.
“Streaming on social media makes our content more accessible and helps both us and the rightsholder reach new and diverse audiences, including those with a low barrier to entry.” said Danny Menken, Group Managing Director, ELEVEN SPORTS.
